I’ve always believed that you should say “I Love You” year round . . . so I haven’t always been a fan of Valentine’s Day. However, I decided to think of some “creative” ways to say I love you. Valentine’s day at my house has always been a bit out of the ordinary. It’s pink strawberry shaped pancakes for breakfast, little hidden treasures throughout the day (lunch boxes, book bags, silverware drawer, etc.). For Dinner we always had a FAMILY candle light dinner. However when my daughter (now 12) turned 4 my she told us that she wanted her dad to be her Valentine . . . and he has been ever since. He buys her roses and chocolates and she picks where they go on their date. The best part is that she gets to dress him up. As an attorney, he wears a suit everyday. My daughter informed him at the age of 4 that she would not be seen with him unless he dressed “cool”. So every year, my daughter and I go shopping the day before to pick out a crazy hip get up for her very conservative dad. It has been a great tradition that we will continue until she decides to break dad’s heart and get a new Valentine.
Here are a few ideas that I came up with to make your Valentine’s day a little more special. I’d love to hear some of your Valentine Traditions.
