Halloween Apothecary labels and jars {encore from 2009}

I Love Halloween. It is my favorite time of year. Ask anyone who knows me . . . I have more Halloween decorations than Christmas. I never have enough. So, this year I decided to add to my collection by creating some simple DIY projects. The first project I decided to do were some Spooky but classy terrariums.  Create them with just a few simple supplies:
1. A round wooden plaque-available at any craft supply store
2. Paint
3. A glass jar or vase
4. Trim (enough to go around the wooden base)
5. Dried floral moss
6. Various spooky items such as skeletons, crows, or small headstones
7. A candle-stick
Directions: Simply paint the wooden plaque and use it as the base.  Hot glue the trim around the wooden edge.  Glue dried moss onto the wooden base.  Attach the various selected Halloween items with hotglue.  Place the vase or glass upside down over the base and hotglue on top of the candle-stick.

The second Project I decided to work on was some spooky apothecary jars.  I used various jars found at several craft stores.  I decided to leave some of the jars as they were and chose several of the jars to tint.  You can purchase transparent glass paint at Michael’s.  I tinted some of them amber and some of them purple.  You can also purchase opaque glass paint at Michael’s as well.  I painted several of the jars black. To print the apothecary labels simply click on the photo below.  I printed them on a tan colored paper.

To Create the spooky eyeball jar below, simply rinse out an old jar (I used an old salad dressing jar).  Purchase a large Wooden Ball (available at any craftstore). Paint it to look like an eyeball.  Spray with a high-gloss finish and then hot glue onto a wooden cork.

The next Project is some spooky spell books.  Create these by simply decopauging some Halloween patterned scrapbook paper onto old books.  Print the book titles by clicking on the photo below.

    Great ideas. I do this every Halloween and put water with food coloring in the bottles and add plastic mask, any decorations to make it look spooky. I don’t have labels on them like these and they would look great on my bottles. For some reason, when I click on the pictures to get the downloads, they don’t come up. Any ideas how I can get them? Love the books also. I have been looking for ideas to make books and now I found them on your site. Thanks!!!

    I used some Tombow craft glue (it is the one in a green and white tube) However, I think any craft glue would work.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE the potion labels. So cute! I made some potion bottles tonight and they are so cute!! I just used a glue stick to apply the labels. If I ever want to take them off soap and water will work.
    Thanks for the freebies…. Love your whole web site.

    Thanks for the ideas,,these are so much cheaper to make like this, then to go buy decorations. I have looked around for years for fancy bell jars,,and come to think I have several fish bowls and vases I can turn upside down. Wow so cool. I love your labels also.
